Super Cool Crypto Currency Coasters & Radical Coaster Holder





    My project started as an idea I formed while having a long conversation with Mr. Jacobs in math class about interest rates that later turned into a discussion about my "economic takeover". My project consists of four 8-bit coin-like coasters based on the Bitcoin logo. The coaster hold was created using the outline of my coaster and inserting it onto a square. I made my project by taking an outline of an 8-bit coin I found on the internet & used that as my base with some minor tweaks. Then, I constructed the "E" in the center which was inspired by the Bitcoin logo. My coaster holder was created by putting the outline of the coaster in the middle of a square & then modifying it to the design I have now. The corners were created by taking the gap section on the corners of the coin outline & then were glued on later. What I like most about my project is the idea formation for it, because it was such a random discussion I had that ended up leading to this final product. There were a few other ideas that formed from this conversation about what would go in the center, but eventually, I decided it would be an "E". The most challenging thing about this project was making sure the dimensions of the coin outline would fit into my coaster holder & also executing the idea I had for the coaster holder itself.  I wouldn't really change anything about my project if I were to do it again, I'm pretty happy with how the results turned out. But, if I were to make another set of these I would probably execute one of the other ideas for the center of the coin, that being the chair I was sitting in because that's where the great idea was formed or Mr. Jacobs because he contributed to the thought process. My current plan for this project is to make it a late Mother's Day gift because the project was not finished by Mother's Day.

Design Tech Cutting Board

 💫💖My Amazing Cutting Board💖💫 By: Olivia 💕💝😍👅 Our project for Design Tech was to make a cutting board. I made it with three different   types of wood, cherry, walnut, and maple. We sketched our ideas and figured out the dimensions for the cutting board. Once we knew how much wood we needed, we cut it out and glued it. My partner and I (Angelica) finished gluing the wood strips together and then cut it in half so we could each have a half. Once that step was finished, we flattened the board and sanded it. Then we used two coats of finishing oil. After that, we burnished twice. I also did the extra step of engraving my mom's monogram on the cutting board. My favorite thing was engraving the letters on the board and seeing it all come together. The hardest thing was getting over the fear of cutting the wood because the blades were very scary and fast. I might do more engraving because it was really fun. I am going to give it to my mom for Christmas.

Cherry Wood Cutting Board - Design Tech Project

What is your project? I created a cherry wood cutting board. It is a total of 2 planks of wood, both cut in half and lined up, so it is now 4 separate pieces.  How did you make it? I cut 2 planks of cherry wood in half, planed and leveled, routed the corners off, and finished with a linseed oil and beeswax mix.  What do you like most about your project? I like that I was able to create something that is going to be useful to me in my house. My family does a lot of cooking, and it certainly will not hurt to have another cutting board! What was challenging about this project? To be honest, it wasn't. the toughest part for me was that I wanted to do more, but as our previous project ran longer than expected, I was not able to add in those touches. What would you change about the project if you did it again? I just wish that we could have had those originally planned classes. Ac Milan soccer coasters and coaster holder - design tech project

     The project that I created in Design tech this semester is a set of 6 coasters and a coaster holder designed around the current Ac Milan soccer club and their players.      All of the coasters are made of maple wood. This was made by creating the designs for these coasters on Adobe illustrator. After the designs were made we preceded to prepare our wood. This was done by choosing the right size and type of wood that would fit all of the designs on it, then taping the part of the wood that would be cut and engraved by our lazer cutter. This prevented any burn marks appearing on our designs. We then took our designs and plugged them into the lazer cutter that would read them then cut and engrave our wood. afterwards we took the leftover tape off.
