Homemade Fish Coasters and Holder Design Model 1945 Soft Maple Design Number 3529372 - Design Tech Project
What were the steps you took to complete your project?
Many steps are taken to make the coasters, such as buying the wood and crafting our model in an app called Adobe Illustrator. Once finished with both of those steps, I was able to laser cut out my coasters and sand off the burnt parts, ultimately finishing my coasters. For my coaster holder, it was almost the same process, but unlike the coasters, I used a wood cutting device called the CNC router. With this machine, I was able to get the pocket in the middle with perfect depth.
What do you like most about your project? Explain.
There are many parts of my project that I admire, but the one that stands out the most to me is the details of the coasters. For example, the turtle and "shark" on the BLUP coaster or seaweed on the GLUB coaster, there is always something special about each coaster, and I personally like it.What was challenging about this project? Explain.
To me, there weren't many challenging parts about this project, and it was more of a chill and laid-back project. Although it was a struggle when it came to my coaster holder design, my computer crashed every time I finished my design.
What would you change about the project if you did it again? Why?
I would change the fact that every detail I made on the coasters where competley hand drawn, including the scales that are put on each letter. They printed wrongly and I would change the way I customized it in Adobe Illustrator; it would have definitely come out better and not look like grit, but more like fish scales
What is your plan for it now that it's done?
I shall take it home and place my steamy beverages upon it. My Parental figures shall use these beautifully designed and carved coasters to make the surface underneatheth unsoiled and cleansed. Possibly be used to arouse min unwanted guests, and be hung up for display at thy museum.
